Alicia McGowan
Meet Dr. Andy Shih!
Growing up, I enjoyed my visits to the dentist. My sister, on the other hand, did not. One unfortunate experience, at an early age, created a lifelong lingering anxiety for her. Having witnessed first hand of how a dental experience can affect an individual’s emotional and oral health, I focus my daily practice and philosophy around creating a caring, compassionate, and comfortable environment for people of all ages. I use a story-telling approach to make dental visits fun for kids; and a calming demeanor and gentle touch to make everyone feel at ease.
From day one, I developed a strong passion for dentistry. My passion is showcased through the quality of workmanship and attentiveness to detail. I strive to maintain competency at the highest level through continuing education. If I am not in the office, you can find me at a course, keeping updated and working to bring better methodology to my daily practice to benefit the patients.
My dedication towards the profession extends to being an educator. I have been teaching young professionals at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, as a clinical instructor for the Dental Outreach Community Service program since 2013. I also believe in educating and empowering people to promote good oral health and total health.
In my spare time, I love hiking and exploring trails with my wife and Bernese mountain dog named Penny. During my time at home, I am always experimenting with different foods and flavors in hopes of being the next MasterChef Canada.Â
